I have been thinking about this question a lot, because it is one that I get asked often by women.
Many women feel as though they need to be a certain size, or have a certain look to feel sexy. And I believe that media (social and traditional) really have so much to answer for! Then throw in the comments that other people (mostly guys) make when they see a woman in the street who they deem to be sexy, and it’s a literal punch in our guts.
They say comparison is the thief of joy…..and it is true.
Now…..the mind of a woman is complex. We ALL know this. And yes, we may well be our own worst enemy given our internal verbal chatter we feel the need to decipher on a second by second basis.
But, to me, I see sexy not in the clothes we wear, or by body shape/size.
The most sexiest person in the room is the person who hold themselves with confidence. The person who can work a room just with their conversations and yet be respectful enough to be authentically interested in what you have to say too.
That’s what sexy looks like to me.
And I can honestly say, that when a woman steps in front of my lens, and it is just her and I talking, laughing and having fun (as we women LOVE to do). That by the time she walks out of my studio, she is overflowing in confidence. Because she has FINALLY seen her true self.
Empowered. Spirited. Beautiful. Sensual. – and that is the very reason why I love being a photographer.
Have you seen yourself lately!??
