As a portrait photographer, my quest to find the most stunning locations for my clients never ends. Each location MUST hold the promise of a unique and breath taking backdrop, adding that extra touch of magic to every shot. Recently, I stumbled upon a gem of a location that will become a favourite for creating dreamy portraits: a beautiful beachfront that seems straight out of a fairy tale!
The Serendipitous Discovery
It was one of those perfect days when everything aligned. I was up and out very early on this particular morning, with the intent of testing out the new ND filters I’d recently purchased, to use in long exposure portrait photography for my clients. And I knew that the place I was seeking needed to specifically inspire awe and serenity.
After an hour of driving to different locations that I already knew of, I decided to go further afield and hike for a bit. Then I found myself standing on the edge of an almost secluded beach! Untouched by the usual hustle and bustle of avid beach goers.
I saw the soft, light caramel coloured sand stretched for miles, kissed by gentle waves that shimmered under the golden sunlight. And the deep browns and blacks of protruding rocky outcrops of varying sizes, framed the scene, adding to the most idyllic charm.
The Perfect Backdrop
This beachfront location offered everything needed for the most dreamy portraits.
The natural beauty was breath taking, but it was the variety of elements that truly made it special. There were rocky outcrops that provided dramatic contrast, serene tide pools reflecting the sky, and stretches of sand dunes that added texture and depth. The shifting moods of the ocean and the ever-changing light I know would allow me to create an endless array of possibilities for stunning portraits for you.
Connecting with the Elements
One of the most enchanting aspects of this location is how it encourages a deep connection between the person and the surroundings. I felt it myself, as I stood there letting the gentle breeze, the soothing sound of the waves, and the warmth of the sun relax me with such mesmerizing intimacy.
And I knew, in my heart, that this connection is what you need! My client. It was exactly what you crave to feel; to find yourself lost in the moment, resulting in genuine and fully emotive photographs for you.
The Magic of Light
I went back to this location over the next couple of days and stayed longer and longer because I wanted to ensure the light was nothing short of magical for you!
As the sun rose, the sky transformed into a canvas of pastel hues, casting a soft, ethereal glow over everything. Sunset, also provided gentle, diffused light highlighting the natural beauty, which created a warm and inviting atmosphere that is ideal for intimate and heartfelt photographs. But even at midday, the light was malleable for soft diffusion or sun kissed highlights!
Embracing the Unexpected
Nature unpredictability often brings unexpected elements that can enhance a photoshoot.
At this location, the occasional gust of wind adds a dynamic touch, I can see your hair dancing and fabrics framing gracefully over your body. Even, a light drizzle would create a romantic ambiance, with raindrops adding a touch of magic to your portraits. These unplanned moments often lead to some of the most enchanting and memorable shots, capturing the raw beauty and spontaneity of the environment.
Enhancing the Dreaminess
To accentuate the dreamy quality of you, its about close attention to the details.
